"Old School" Bait - The Curry Backing (Pappie)

Many of the older anglers grew up with baits that were homemade from recipes that was passed down from their fathers, uncles and/or grandfathers. Nowadays, we call these 'old school' baits. I have fond memories of my father preparing bait in my childhood home.

This preparation was met with excitement as I was well aware that bait preparations meant that we would be doing a fishing session that weekend. My father mainly prepared three backings, a custard backing "pap", a curry backing "pap/brownbread" and a plain mealie backing "pap". All three of these backings "pappies" where very successful. The downside to these baits are the fact that it is time consuming, they could only be used for a day or two before going off and that it left a mess in the kitchen.

Luckily you no longer have to make the time to prepare these baits neither do you have to clean up the dirty kitchen. Not that most guys would clean the kitchen anyway, they would rather hope that their better half would do it. We, at Magic Baits, now produce these 'old school' baits in our Chooby Bait range.

The Curry chooby is made from real Curry powder just like the original recipe. To improve the bait we added a sweetener that is a proven fish attractor. The bait is cooked to perfection and then packaged in an easy to use plastic tube.

Feed: Heavyweight Feed or Popcorn Feed

Bottom Hook: One Fire Opal Floating Gem with a big Curry Chooby backing - this is a bait that will lie on the bottom 

Top Hook: Two Fire Opal Floating Gems with a small thin Curry Chooby backing - this is a bait that will float a few centimetres of the bottom
