Vaalriver Bait Application no. 4

A more important question would be. How do I apply my bait for the best results?

In this series of articles we will show you exactly how to apply your bait to ensure a high success rate.

1) Traction, Smoky and Tfc Combination

You will need the following for this bait application:

Boldips: Tfc
Spray: Traction and  Smoky
Bottled Mealies: Plain - Use Traction spray to flavour the mealies
Hard Floaties: Plain White
Floating Gems: Zircon
Gem Backings: Zircon

Step 1: Bottom Hook Application: 'Geknipte' Traction Mealie on the bottom hook with a Plain White Hard Floatie.

Before we show you the Bottom hook application we need to tell you how to make the Traction Mealies

You will need:

Bottled of Plain Mealies

Bottle of Traction Spray

Open the Plain mealies and pour off all the liquid. Fill up the bottle mealies with Traction Spray and shake well.

Now you will have a bottle of Traction Flavoured Mealies.

Hook one Traction Mealie pip and pull it through to the bend of the hook.

With the use of small scissors cut the Traction mealie. Refer to the article Geknipte MIELIES die Wonderaas van Magic Baits deur Fanie Oosthuizen

We call this a 'geknipte' mealie.

Hook one Plain HardFloatie and pull it through to sit on the bend of  the hook.

Step 2: Top Hook Application: Zircon Floating Gem on the bottom hook with a Zircon Gem Backing

Hook one Zircon Floating Gem and pull it through to the bend of the hook.

Take out a small piece of Zircon Gem Backing and roll into a small ball.

Apply the ball of Zircon Gem Backing to the back of a the Zircon Floating Gem to serve as a backing.

Step 3: Hook the two hookbaits into the feed ball.

Hook the 'Geknipte' Traction Mealie with the Plain White Hard Floatie into the one side of the feed ball.

Hook the Zircon Floating Gem with the Zircon Gem Backing into the other side of the feed ball.

The bottom and top hook baits hooked into the feed ball.

Step 4: Apply the Attractors

Smoky Spray

Spray to 2 to 3 times Smoky Spray on the one side on the feed ball.

Traction Spray

Spray to 2 to 3 times Traction Spray on the other side on the feed ball.

Tfc Boldip

Put 3 to 4 drops of Tfc Boldip on the top part of the feed ball.

You are now ready to cast!
